Submersible Pumps
Submersible Pumps feature a fully enclosed pump and motor unit that operate underwater and typically installed within a well casing. And as both the motor and impeller are submerged, long drive shafts are not needed. Submersibles are typically used to lift water from moderately deep wells.
Submersible Pumps include (1) pump & motor assembly; (2) riser pipe that delivers water to the surface; (3) power cable connecting the motor to control panel; and (4) control box.
There are multiple benefits to Submersible Pumps. They are compact and self-contained with no vertical shaft needed. And as they are always submerged, they operate quietly without the need for priming. However, their position underwater makes them harder to repair if needed. Additionally, sand intrusion can adversely impact performance.
Common applications include:
- Used for drip irrigation systems on vegetable farms
- Using drip tape, delivers water to raised-bed systems on blueberry farms
- Provides water for mist and fertrigation systems at greenhouses
- Offers steady pressure to micro-irrigation and overhead sprinklers at nurseries
